Tonight we had a wonderful New Beginnings. We have 8 girls that will be turning 12 this year and joining us in YW. All but 1 were able to come tonight as we explained the YW program to them. We went with the bee theme and had fun decorations including this awesome balloon arch that was our "beehive" in our little skit. It was fun because the skit incorporated the prospective beehives and got them involved. We gave them little bee antennae to wear and it started out with them coming out of the beehive and they notice these other bees that are different. So they go and ask the bees what makes them different and the bees, which were our Beehive Presidency, take them from flower to flower showing them what makes them unique. It was cute to see their little antennae bouncing around as they went. Each flower was one of the values. So we had about 2 girls for each flower talk about the value. The girls that were flowers had made the cutest flower headbands out of felt. Then we ended with this cute song that Keriann (one of my cute Laurels) wrote. (It goes to Called To Serve)
Called to serve as bees in the young womens
Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth
Collecting honey we use our knowledge wisely
Letting our light so shine...
Choice and accountability,
as we strengthen family
Good works and integrity,
as we show humility
Virtue, Temple worthy,
as we keep our standards high...
Being an example is our, priority when
Called to serve as bees.
I am so grateful for awesome leaders that all contribute so that a night like this is not overwhelming, and I am grateful for a wonderful group of girls that I can count on to be there, do their part, bring their refreshments, and be virtuous and lovely girls that are keeping their standards! What a great night!

Such a great idea. I'm going to have Chrystal give you a call. She is the 2nd counsler in YW, they had there New Beginnings last week, but this would be a great idea for next year. Love it!!!
New BeeGinnings, how clever! I never cease to be amazed at the creativity you and your conselors possess! I'm sure the girls loved it and are ready to "bee" the best they can "bee"! Can't wait to see you...day after tomorrow!
