Emma lost her first tooth!

Usually kids are eating an apple, or something hard that makes their first tooth come out...Emma's came out while eating FISH! I don't know if there is anything softer :) I can't believe my little girl is big enough to be losing TEETH!!!! I'm sure there is going to be another post soon about tooth #2 because the one right next to it is hanging by a thread!

Busy busy callings :)

So Matt and I have been quite busy lately with our fun callings. Matt is in the process of planning our youth Pioneer Trek, he just had Prom last week, and all kinds of scout stuff. I had our YM/YW Etiquette night, and then Prom, and we are planning girls camp, which is on a ward level this year! STRESS!

Our etiquette night was so fun, the kids all dress formally and then the YM escorted the YW to the gym for a nice dinner, and then a short dance at the end. Previous to the evening the Laurels had made all the youth an etiquette guide that they were supposed to study up on. It included things like which utensils to use (work outside in), to dinner conversation, etc. Then during the night there was a GROG...in the military they have this where if there is a breach in protocol then they are called out and have to drink from this gross concoction of various items. Our GROG included grape punch, gummy bears, smashed bananas, chocolate syrup, orange juice, and I think pickle juice. To top it off it had dry ice in it to make it look really intimidating. The kids had to write down on a piece of paper if they saw someone breaking our rules of etiquette and then the guilty party was sent to the GROG for a drink. It was fun. It was nice to see all the youth mingling and having fun together. I'm just glad the night is over!!!!

Prom turned out awesome! The kids again looked beautiful and it was fun because Amy Lopez and her husband John were there taking Prom pictures. Fun night but it wore both Matt and me out! We didn't get home until around 1:00 a.m. after taking down the decorations. So if you are wondering where we have been and why we haven't been blogging or communicating, these were big reasons lately! :) I am now getting back into my routine and putting my house back in order :)

40th Birthday Surprise!!!!!

It was my dear friend Amy's birthday...not just any birthday...her 40th birthday! I was nosey and wanted to make sure her husband had big plans for her and I offered my assisstance :) So with him, and my friends Beckie and Stefanie we planned a special night for her! We had a limo come to her door and pick her up. He gave her a box with a tutu and crown in it that she had to wear. Then she came and got in the limo and there we were! We went to dinner and there were about 10 other couples there waiting. Then after we went to Beckie's house for cake and ice cream. We also rounded up enough money to give Amy an ipod. It was such a fun night and I think she was surprised!

Gladys Knight Fireside

The Stakes in our area came together and had this WONDERFUL fireside. The only way you could get tickets was by inviting a non-member friend. Matt was so awesome and he posted the opportunity on his work website and had about 10 people who wanted to attend. We went one of the nights with his friend Jennifer and her husband and daughter. It was the most powerful program! It really brought to life what the prophet meant, I think it was Pres. Hinckley, when he said to bring all that you have that is good and let us add to it. Sister Knight is so talented and it is not mainstream LDS music that we are used to, but her testimony truly shined forth and she is doing so much good. Her husband also talked for a minute and he was hilarious. He said he was a little leary of getting close to Gladys at first because he had heard she had "lost her mind" and joined the Mormon church. :) She was trying to give him "direction" and was urging him to study up on the church. He said "we men don't like taking direction from women...that's why we invented the navigation system. But then women had to go and put their voices on it too!" He was so darn cute. Anyway it was a VERY uplifting night and I could tell Matt's friends really enjoyed it too. A week or so later she sent a message to Matt that she wanted to get together sometime. We'll see, maybe something will come of it! We'll keep you posted!

One ends and one begins...

Today was Luke's LAST football game and FIRST baseball game. We only overlapped one day, not bad. He had a great football game in the morning and his team finished up undefeated! He had intense coaches that really taught the kids plays and really helped them focus on staying in their position. At the end they gave awards and Luke got the award for Most Competitive Spirit! During the game he actually got to throw a couple of passes as quarterback!

Then we were off to his baseball pictures and his first baseball game. It was a great game. It's fun this season because he is on the team with his 2 buddies Ethan and Grant from school and his friend Cade from church. His team is the Rockhounds.

Take me out to the ball field...

Baseball is officially underway! They had the cutest opening ceremonies where all the teams were out on the field and then they played music and each team was announced and then got to walk up the baseline to home plate and pick up their baseball hat. Luke felt like a celebrity! I love the way they are so organized and so official on how they handle things, it really makes the kids feel special!
