Fat lip and other adventures...

I feel like we had such an eventful week, so bear with this email. Here are some of the events:
• One day this past week we decided to take one of our bike rides/my jog. We went our normal route and then Gavin was still asleep in the stroller and Luke and Emma still had some energy in them and wanted to keep going and head to the park down the street. So we went to the park. The kids continued the bike ride around the park on a trail that is about 1/4 mile. Then they got off their bikes and wanted to jog like I was doing. So then they jogged around the trail. We finally get done and the kids decide to go play at the park. They take off their jackets and before Emma even steps out into the sand she PEE's her pants!!!!!!! YIKES! I didn't come prepared for this. And we still had to ride back to our house. It was a little chilly and I didn't want Emma to have to ride home with wet pants and so trying to be innovative, I took off my long sleeve shirt that I had over my t-shirt and we put Emma's legs through the arms and then somehow tied the rest around her waist! It looked pretty comical, but at least she was warm and dry!

• Thursday right after our bike ride adventure we came home and got Emma changed and then the kids helped me to weed the front flower beds. Our front yard has some kind of power box or something that the kids love to climb on top of and jump off. I told them to stop and not even 2 minutes after Emma does one last jump and as she lands her knee hits her mouth! She is screaming in pain. I run over and see that her bottom lip is bleeding a little bit. I really didn't think it was anything and wiped away the little amount of blood that was there and told her she would be fine. I didn't realize that it was the top of her mouth that I had to worry about! A few minutes later she yells "Mom my tooth is falling out!" Sure enough her front tooth was wiggling! I hurried and called the dentist and they said they could see me in an hour. I called Matt and luckily he was able to meet me there because Gavin woke up starving right when we got there. The dentist did x-rays and hopefully everything will turn out ok. The tooth moved down a bit, but now it is settling into place there and will probably not have to come out. But the poor girl had an upper lip that was sticking straight out it was so swollen! I've attached a picture, but it was actually even worse the next morning. It was all black and blue. With it so swollen like that she looked like Liv Tyler. Anyway she is such a trooper! She has not even complained about it a bit! It was so sad to hear her try to talk. She looks much better already. We have a follow up appointment to see how the tooth is doing next week.

• You know how crazy things happen to you in 3's....well last week after I dropped Luke off at school, I came home and pushed the garage door opener and the garage started to go up and then CRASH! The garage door came slamming down! The spring broke! Luckily I found a guy to fix it that day...well then 2 days later we go to start the van and that was completely dead. We got a new battery but that didn't work. We had it towed and luckily it was just the connection to the battery was corroded...but then when we picked up that car we left the other car for some repairs! Funny how things wear out all at the same time!

• We had to take little Gavin into the doctor because he has had this goopy eye...it turns out it is a blocked tear duct. But anyway he has grown sooooo much! He now weighs 11.5 lbs.! I can't believe how fast they grow! He has really been fussy and we have had flashbacks of our other two fussy babies, but today he seems to be quite content and I think he even flashed us a few smiles! He is so dang cute!

• Well I am back to teaching dance. I only teach Emma's little class that is during the day on Friday. My friend made a deal with me and I put her little girl in my class and I take her while my friend watches Gavin! It is a beautiful thing! Then I am the worst wife ever and my first night back was on Valentine's night! So poor Matt was not only without his wife on Valentines night, but Gavin screamed the whole time I was gone! Granted I was only gone 1 1/2 hours. But still it is amazing Matt still wants to be married to me.

• Matt has started playing flag football on a league again and it is so fun to see him play again! We went to his first game on Saturday. He stole the show and stole the first 3 flags of the game and then continued to steal about 75% of the flags during the whole game and then scored the extra point on one of the touch downs! It was fun and Luke and Emma were very proud of him!

• It was so funny...the other night Luke came running into our room in the middle of the night and told me he just had a bad dream. I felt bad for him and thought he had some nightmare with scary monsters in it or something....so I pull him up into my bed and hug him tight and then ask him what happened in the dream. He says "I was with my friends and everyone got toy handcuffs but me"! Right after that I sent him back to bed! Pretty funny bad dream!

• Luke is growing up so much. He has watched my neighbor kids, who are a bit older, with their Pokemon cards (they sit their and trade the different cards with their friends). He has always wanted some and so finally he did enough chores to be able to buy some. So he and Emma have their cards and they love to trade them. The funny thing is they keep trading with their little neighbor friend Nicholas. I don't know if Nicholas realizes that he is trading and getting his same cards back! :)

• Luke has such an imagination. His new thing is that he likes to play video game. Not like you are probably thinking, we don't own a playstation or X box or any of those fancy things, and if I could get away with him playing this version then we will be LUCKY! He has me pretend like I am holding a game controller, so I hold my hands up and act like I am pushing buttons. And then Luke either sings, or hums rather, like a video game's background music. Then he runs around and jumps around. I'll push an imaginary button and say "Jump" and he jumps up in the air. Or I can say shoot and he shoots his imaginary gun. Other commands vary from: army crawl, walk backwards, run, jump, roll, flip, etc. It is pretty comical! Then if I am busy doing something and my hands cease to push buttons then he'll fall to the ground and hum "dum, dum, dum" and said I was killed! It is great because I can also PAUSE the game. When I come back from wiping Emma or whatever it was I had to do, Luke is still sitting in the very same position that I left him. He also realized that one of our little toys music sounds like video game music and so we can sometimes play to that! :) It is hilarious...I don't know if I explained it well enough for you to imagine. Anyway you'll have to play it with him sometime! A very cheap version of Playstation! :)

Well there you go...a glimpse of our eventful week. :)

Kid update...

All is well here in Florida. We are about 30 minutes away from where the tornados were last week and so we were not affected. How sad that was. And we are only 30 minutes away from where the psycho astronaut drove to in her diaper. What is this world coming to?

Anyway, I hope you are all doing well. We have been praying fervently for little Brigham! We are glad that he is home and hope the recovery is fast for him. We wish we were there to hold him and love him. Those pictures of him with all the tubes and IV's was so sad! Poor little guy! Thanks for keeping us updated.

Not much has been going on around here. Matt is out of town and will get back tomorrow night late. As for the kids and I, we are starting to get out and about a little more. I decided I needed some exercise the other day and so I thought I would follow Emma on her bike and "take a little walk"....little did I know that Emma is faster then lightning! It wasn't much of a walk, it was more like I was jogging, ok sprinting! AND I didn't realize she is the energizer bunny! We went probably a mile and a half, which is a lot for an out of shape, overweight girl that just had a baby! It felt so good but the next day I had shin splints so bad! Then today we walked to our nearby park and the kids played and rode their bikes around the park. Actually Luke RAN around the trail twice! It is probably a quarter of mile around. At one of Matt's previous 5k's we were standing at the finish line and a guy comes across and starts throwing up right by us! Well Luke has never forgotten that and so today at the park he proceeds to come back from running around the trail and he leans over with his hands on his knees and starts spitting. Then he is telling everyone he ran a 5k :).

Emma's new thing is she likes to pretend her name is Jayla. When she is Jayla she calls me Sara and acts like she is just over at my house visiting for the first time. She will say "I like your baby, is it a boy? What's his name? Do you like your baby? Does your boy (referring to Luke) like your baby?" Then she'll say "Can I use your restroom? Where is it?" And I have to tell her "down the hall to the right". Then she'll thank me. It is so funny to hear her ask where my bathroom is every time she needs to go! Funny girl.

Luke and Emma are so anxious for Gavin to get big. Today I put little shoes on Gavin and Luke got all excited and said "yea! then we can teach him how to walk today!" We've had a discussion that Gavin was with Heavenly Father and Jesus before he got here. So now when Gavin is staring up into space they say he is looking at Heavenly Father and Jesus. Then he turned his head and looked out the window and Emma said "now Heavenly Father and Jesus are out there" (pointing out the window where Gavin was looking!)

We just signed Luke and Emma up for soccer, and they are sooooooooo excited! I can't wait to see how Emma does. We'll keep you updated.
