I've noticed for a while that Emma is really growing up, but it became very apparent this last week. For starters, I was in helping Luke with his piano practicing and asked Emma to clear the table. Well not only did she COMPLETELY clear the table, she then rinsed all the dishes and put them in the dishwasher and put things in the fridge that were left out. When I came into the kitchen my mouth dropped and she had this cute little grin on her face and she said "I just knew you were so busy and I wanted to help!" WOW! Talk about an amazing moment and right then she looked so much older to me!
Then she is really starting to understand and get emotional about movies and things. When I was at YW the other night Matt watched Where the Red Fern Grows with she and Gavin and he said she cried in it. Then last night we watched Hachi and she and I sat together and bawled our eyes out! I felt like I was with one of my sisters or friends watching a movie together...she really got it and understood.
THEN today my friend was scurrying around trying to get things done because she has 8 family members coming to stay with her. She has the cutest little 4 year old girl named Ellery that loves attention and my friend was getting a little frustrated trying to juggle the getting ready and playing with Ellery. So she called and asked if Emma could come and help entertain Ellery (really babysit) for the day. Emma went over there around 12:30 or 1:00 and she didn't get home until 7:30!!!!!! She played dolls with Ellery, hunted for ghosts :), she cleaned Ellery's room and her play room, and she went to Target with them to run errands. My friend Ginger took Emma out to Burger King and bought her dinner and a shake to reward her. When I picked Emma up she was beaming and you could tell she felt so old and mature. When I was talking to her about it I said that I thought it was nice that they rewarded her with dinner and a shake and she said "Ya, food is better then money! All the girls that babysit for us you pay with money, but food is so much better!" I wonder how long she will think that :)
I just can't believe how grown up she has become. What a sweet girl, I am so proud of you Emma!

Dear Emma, I am so proud of you also. Doing something nice for someone else makes your heart feel so, so good! You are such a blessing to all of us! Love you, Cupcake! (You are growing up, but is it okay if I still call you that once in awhile?)
