Luke's Baptism...It's GREAT to be 8!!!!

What a special day today was! It was so neat to see my little boy all dressed in white with wide eyes intently listening and soaking in all that was going on around him. And it was especially neat to have BOTH sets of grandparents there to support Luke on his day. I was asked to give a talk at the Stake baptism, which at first I was dreading and hoping it wouldn't distract me from making sure the day was all about Luke and the covenant he was making. But as I was up there speaking I thought what a special opportunity it was to be a part of his day and that I was able to remind him one more time of the true meaning of the baptism. I talked about the WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, and WHY of baptism. Then we went to the font for the ordinance. There were 7 children getting baptized the same day and we asked to be last so that Luke's little friend Grant would have a better chance of making it in time for his turn. We stalled a little and Grant made it just in time.

Afterward Luke's grandpa Rose gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. Toward the end of his talk he choked up and spoke of how he wanted to be Luke's grandpa for FOREVER and that Heavenly Father has made it possible to make it back to him and have eternal life if we follow Christ's example and live so that the Holy Ghost is with us always. I looked over at Luke and that sweet kid had tears flowing down his cheeks. He was very still and listened silently to the whole talk. I am so proud of him and his desire to learn and follow the Savior and help his testimony grow. What a great kid and what a wonderful day! It was neat to have my dad give a beautiful closing prayer to end the the beautiful ceremony.

So glad that you had such a wonderful day! Mom told me all about it last night. Love you Rose Family. Luke we are so proud of your decision to be baptized. Sorry we couldn't be there, but we were there in spirit!

Oh it looks like it was such a special day. I just cried as I read about Luke!!! Don't you just wish that they could stay that age forever, so sweet and untouched by the world. Wish we could've been there. Please give him a big love. I have something for him, but with the weddings I'm a bit tardy with everything. Love you much

That was such a tender few minutes with Luke. He will always be able to look back and remember feeling the spirit on his special day. How we enjoyed the weekend and getting to know your folks. We love them so much and all the Gillespie family! We will never forget our wonderful weekend with all of you and are so grateful we were both able to come and be with Luke on his special day. Thanks again for always making us feel so loved and welcome!

I'm glad it was wonderful. I can't believe that Luke is 8!!!! Last time we were there, Morgan and I were just commenting on what a stud he is. He is really growing into such a cool, collected guy. :) Congrats! Now he's accountable for everything... dang it!

Way to go, Luke.

I love that you wrote about his reaction and feelings about the day. It will be a really special reminder to him of how it feels to feel the Spirit.

Love that guy!
