Date night!!!!

My cute little Laurels are just not dating!!!!! They always get all bummed when I tell them all my fun dating stories and they say no one goes out on dates anymore! So I decided they needed a blind date! I contacted another ward and had 5 of their Priests (we were minus one so last minute we had to grab a Priest from our ward too) and we went on a date! It turned out to be so much fun and after the date the girls were giddy and loving boys again! Prior to the date they "hated boys" and said they were going to move into a convent. I was so excited to see the change and it was so fun to see them on their date.

We went to a nearby park where they also allow you to camp, so that we could have a campfire to make smores. To start the night we had the girls bring an item that represented them...the items they brought were:

  • a football

  • a toy frog

  • an ipod

  • a book

  • a flag

  • bubbles

Then we had the boys pick a number and then that was the order they got to go up and choose an item. Then that girl was his date for the night. The pairings were PERFECT! We ate pizza and then the first thing we did is we sent them on a photo scavenger hunt. The items they had to find and take a picture of were:

  • a purple flower

  • a picture of a kid playing

  • a picture of someone wearing the same color shirt as them

  • a picture of a tree hug

  • a profile picture of them and their date making a funny face

  • they had to have someone take a picture of them together on the slide

  • a picture of one of them on a swing

  • the lake

  • they had to make their initials our of nature (leaves, grass, twigs, etc.)

  • an animal (squirrel, raccoon, etc.)

The rest of the night we sat around the campfire and played games. What a fun activity. Did I mention how much I love my calling?????

What a fun night! You are always so creative, thinking of ways to enrich the girls' lives and self-esteem! What a blessing you are to all of them! You did have some dates to go down in history! Did you share the "pants-on-fire" one? I remember telling family about it at Sizzler and even the waitresses gathered around to hear the wild night!

Sara you are amazing. Everyone should have a fun leader like you. I think we get a little stale her in good ole Tremonton, Whit wants to move to Florida with you.

You are the primo Young Women leader...an example to all who serve of prayerfully considering the needs of those you have stewardship over and creatively meeting those needs. Were all those ideas yours? My mom and I are sitting here in utter amazement! We think you really need to submit this whole evening, pics and all, to the Church News, Mormon Times, or the General Board so that others can benefit!

You guys are SUCH FUN young women's leaders. I wish you were here to set me up on dates, because no one date here either. It's really pretty sad. My mom is always talking about her fun dating stories, too, and I have almost none. Boys are such bums these days! Thanks for taking care of my sister in that respect, though! :)
