Charlotte's Web

Luke's school class went to the play "Charlotte's Web" and I got to go along as a chaperon. It was a little bit eye opening to me....Luke is growing up and he is too cool...he wouldn't sit next to me on the bus or at the play!!!!!!! Talk about a dagger to the heart. There was a little girl in his class that clung to me the WHOLE time and helped to lessen the blow. She held my hand everywhere we went and told me over and over that she wished I was her mom. I didn't find out until after that Luke really did want to sit with me, not on the bus, but at the play. He was SO bugged that little Lauren kept hanging on me and told me he really did want to sit with me but Lauren was stealing me. :) I think he just felt bad that he dogged me.

It was such a cute play and the kids got a kick out of it. Next time I will make sure Lauren and I don't make Luke jealous :)

Here's Luke NOT sitting with me

Luke AGAIN NOT sitting with me :(

Here's my little buddy Lauren

70's Party!

I had the best time the other night at my friends fun surprise 50th birthday party! It was a 70's theme and everyone was dressed up. Matt had to take Luke to his baseball practice so he missed out (I don't think he minded "missing out", he's not one for dressing up :) So I went with John and Amy Lopez.

Brad had no idea we were all waiting at his house as he came home from work. His two daughters and their kids surprised him and flew in from out of town. After the initial shock of all of us being there Michelle, his wife, took him in the other room for his 70's make over...here's the before and after :)

Michelle had called me a couple of weeks prior and asked me to teach everyone the "Hustle". So I did my research (thanks to Utube). Our bishop is a DJ and so we had our own little dance! VERY fun!

All I Want for Christmas...

You guessed it, Luke lost ANOTHER of his front teeth and so he has a HUGE hole in the front of his mouth now. Luckily is was the day after picture day :) Too cute. He talks different now too. I need to teach him All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth :) This time the Tooth Fairy made it right on time...thank goodness :) Maybe she is getting her brain back.
On one of his school papers it asked him to list his hobbies and one of the things was pulling teeth :)

Matt's new excercise program...

Very persuasive

Gavin is very persuasive, he will ask me if he can have a treat and then he follows it with "Yes or ya". Just as you are about to answer ya you find yourself thinking "wait just a second I mean NO but that wasn't one of my options!" Funny little kid!

First Baseball Game!!!!!

Luke had his first baseball game today and it was so exciting, long, but exciting! He had a hit and brought one kid home. He was on cloud 9! As he was on first base he suddenly became the expert and was coaching the next kid that came up to bat, telling him to bend his legs, etc .

The ball fields that they play on are soooo nice. Luke admitted that the fields were one of the main reasons he wanted to play baseball because they were so "professional" looking.
Oh and the most exciting part is that Luke got the game ball. Each game the coach awards the game ball to one of the kids that stood out and Luke got it this game! Congrats Luke!!!!

Grandma and Grandpa Rose come to visit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is always such a treat to have Grandma and Grandpa Rose come into town! The kids were counting down the days and the day finally arrived! I feel so bad because the kids are in school and Matt had to work the first couple of days and so we mostly ran errands and let Gavin entertain us :) Thursday they got to see Emma's gymnastics class and then we were able to have fun on Friday when Matt took the day off and we went out and about shopping and to lunch. That night we went to the temple and then went out to eat after with some friends from the Stake. Saturday was Rock Springs and the BYU football game in the evening with the Lopez family. Sunday was church, and Monday the BEACH! And Grandma and Grandpa got to watch Luke's FIRST baseball practice. So it was a great trip!

Gavin couldn't get enough of Grandpa and wouldn't leave him alone! He was constantly jumping all over him!

Gavin boogie boarded for his first time and loved it until his last wave that threw him off and he ended up somersaulting in the water :) Oops.

The starts of a testimony

During Sacrament meeting today Matt leaned over to Luke and challenged him to bear his testimony. Little did he know what he was putting him up to :) Luke was nervous and said he didn't want to. After a while he leaned over and told me he thought he had enough courage to do it. I quickly wanted to make sure his testimony didn't turn into a "thank-a-mony" or something and so I reviewed the 5 ingredients in a testimony. He acted like he had this one in the bag and didn't need my instruction. Just before he went up he asked me what day Grandma and Grandpa Rose came in town. I'm thinking oh that is cute that he is going to mention them.

So he walked up to the podium, by himself because he didn't want me with him. He opened his testimony in the sweetest way saying "For those of you that don't know me, my name is Luke Rose." I immediately teared up because he sounded so grown up. I expected to hear the same old "I want to bear my testimony...I know this church is true...I'm grateful for my mom and dad....etc, " but to my surprise, Luke began speaking like an adult would when they start to tell a story! He started out saying that his Grandma and Grandpa came in town Tuesday and he was worried because he thought it would rain all week and that it wouldn't be a fun week for them. He went on to tell how we were able to go to Rock Springs and the weather held out long enough for us to go down the river 3 times before the horn sounded, warning us of lightning, and so we had to get out. He said he was grateful for the good weather. So I'm thinking he is doing a great job and that he is going to tie it into prayer or something. But suddenly he seemed to get really comfortable and kind of enjoyed having the undivided attention of the whole audience and then he goes off telling about how, at Rock Springs, Gavin started trying to catch a frog and Luke had to stop him and then Gavin got a stick and was poking the frog and then Luke had to grab him and tell him to stop again, etc. etc. etc. Matt and I looked at each other and realized it was going nowhere fast as he was starting to really get into the details of the story. So Matt walked up to the stand and sat behind him and whispered in his ear to share his testimony. Luke nodded his head and continued on like he didn't hear him, "AND THEN when we got home Gavin was covered in poop and my mom had to yell for my dad's help!" Matt immediately jumped up before Luke could get into the details of the "poop" story as we like to call it, and whispered again to bear his testimony. Luke looked back at the audience and says "oh never mind" and then finishes up. WHEW! That was a close one! Matt gave him a hug and then stood up and started his testimony, "Well, I know a good topic for Family Home Evening tomorrow." It was so cute!

Luke was very embarrassed when he got back to his seat. He teared up and you could tell he wanted to curl up into a ball and be invisible. We tried unsuccessfully to comfort him. But then our wonderful Primary President, Sister Von Hack, got up and choked up as she said how grateful she was for cute little Luke Rose who showed us his courage to stand up. She said he must feel the love and support of our ward family to feel comfortable enough to tell of his experiences. Then, she quoted Mark 10:14, "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God." She said she hadn't felt like getting up today but because of Luke's example she got up. TALK ABOUT SWEET! It made him feel so much better! He sat up a little taller and was able to wipe away his tears. Needless to say we have taken many opportunities today to review WHAT a testimony is! : )

OH CRAP!

WARNING....THIS POST IS NOT FOR THE WEAK STOMACHED......GRAPHIC PICTURES FOLLOWING....IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE SIGHT OF HUMAN FECES DO NOT CONTINUE.....

PREPARE YOURSELF....

As I was walking past the playroom I was suddenly overcome with an overpowering stench! I glance over to find Luke cluelessly typing away at the computer and RIGHT NEXT to him Gavin completely covered in poop! I think the pictures adequately portray the horror....YIKES!!!!! I immediately started yelling for Matt's help and then when he arrived we both sat there in awe, not knowing where to start. WHY???????

Mom, do you have a wet wipe I can use?

AH...that's better!
