Welcome to the Rose Report

Friends and Family,

We thought this would be a fun way to supplement Sara's masterful emails with random musings, occasional family updates, perhaps some pics, and who knows, you might get a word or two from Matt. The beauty of the blog is that just a few words can make a posting and noone can say that we're skimping or cutting corners. Nice!

We hope you'll enjoy and we invite you to also post to our blog and let us know what you're doing, what your thoughts are on our postings, and generally give us updates on what's going on in your lives. We love you guys and want to hear from you!

So, keep it lively and have some fun. Let the blogging begin!

I enjoyed your initial Rose report! Thanks for the innovation. Perhaps I will write more knowing I don't have to write a whole letter. Who knows!? I'm up early this morning preparing for what will no doubt be a long Sunday. We have seminary graduation tonight at which I have been invited to speak. I appreciate the opportunity but I am also intimidated somewhat at the responsibility. Does that make sense? Mom and I enjoyed the pix of Luke's "graduation" very much. Talk about a great looking grad! I also enjoyed your description of the youth conference. As you know, we are going on a trek in another month and a half so any info or helps you can send--any of you--would be much appreciated. Well, gotta go now. I love you all.

Dad, thanks for being our first poster!

I'm not the greatest on ideas, but we did have some fun stuff. perhaps this will help.

- we did short devotionals at the end of each day in our family groups.

- Games included human pyramid building; putting all of the youth in single file, boy-girl, boy-girl, around a big, very tight circle, then having them 'sit on my knees, please!'

- before the dances, Brother Wilcox spoke to the youth and broke down all the normal stereotypes and barriers of dances, encouraging the girls not to congregate in 'herds' but to be lone zebras just that one night; and then pumping up the young men to not be wallflowers, but 'mighty hunters' and that they should ask the girls to dance, not the other way around. I can't do it justice, but he did it in a humorous, yet effective way that made it 'safe' for everyone and as a result, we had an amazing amount of participation. Our young teachers who had never asked a girl to dance were ALL on the dance floor and had a blast.

That's all I can think of. Hope your talk went well. Love ya!
