Well all is going great here...a few crazy moments, but mostly fun, enjoyable moments with new little Gavin around. Gavin is still such a joy! He really knows how to melt my heart. When I am holding him he will put his little face into my neck, nestle in and fall asleep. Sometimes his little mouth moves and it feels like he is kissing me! He also loves me to cradle him and he will just sit and stare up at me. CUTE!!!! He has his fussy moments, but for the most part he is a great baby.
Emma is doing pretty well with the adjustment to Gavin. I was so worried about her getting jealous, which has not really been the case. The biggest problem we are having with her is her mischeivousness has gone up about 5 levels! She knows I am more occupied and so she has started to get into things more and more. She has an ear infection and knew that I give her medicine for that so she climbed up to a high counter and opened the medicine bottle. I caught her before she drank any of it, but then this morning she got out of bed before any of us were up and got into the medicine cabinet and drank some allergy medicine!!!!!!!! On Saturday Emma was into our closet that has the iron and ironing board in it. The irons cord was hanging down and she must have pulled it and it came falling on her HEAD!!!!! Poor thing had a cut right on top of her head that was bleeding profusely! I was freaked out when I turned the corner and saw her. I was feeding the baby and had to hurry and put him down. That caused him to scream and cry while I was trying to stop the bleeding on Emma. Meanwhile the blood and the situation made me light headed and made me want to throw up! I had to sit down...so here I with Gavin feeding on my left side, holding ice on Emma's head on the right side and I am ready to pass out! So I asked Luke to help. I told him to grab a book or something to fan me! He grabs a burp cloth and starts fanning me with it!!!! His arms got tired and so he stood in front of me blowing on me! What a cute little helpful kid! So I know what you are all thinking.....all these little occurances are in every safety video and child-proofing video of what not to do...please don't turn me in to child services! I'm just not used to Emma's elevated mischeif level but we are adjusting! :)
Well here are a few of the cute and funny things Luke and Emma have been saying the past couple of weeks:
• Luke has heard me say that Gavin is so cute that I could just eat him up, and so now he always tells me that he wants to eat Gavin!
• I called Emma a stinker and Luke said "You can say that again" :)
• Luke's new joke, which we all have said when we were young, I just can't believe he is at the joke telling age: "Why is 6 afraid of 7? Because 7, 8, 9" :)
• Luke has heard people say Gavin is gorgeous and so now he says "Mom, Gavin is such a gorgeous baby". It's so cute to hear coming out of little Luke's mouth!
• Emma's new thing she says "I can't believe it"
• She also told me the other day that she was so "freaked out"
Well that's all folks! Love ya!

He's HERE!!!! Welcome Gavin Gregory Rose
Well it's hard for me to get motivated to do my everyday tasks, I'd rather sit and hold Gavin!!!! Tonight Matt is out of town and Luke and Emma went to bed early and Gavin was feeling good. He definitely knows the way to my heart, he tucked his little face right into my neck and fell asleep like that! We snuggled and I enjoyed every minute for about an hour! He is such a sweet baby! A couple of nights ago he had a fussy night and got me all nervous that I was getting another colicky baby, but he's back to his calm self and I am enjoying every minute of it!
As you know Gavin was born on New Year's Day...just a recap for journaling purposes....We went into the hospital at about 8:00 a.m. I received Petocin at about 9:30 or 10:00 a.m. They broke my water, I started to feel the hints of pain and so I got the epidural. My right side went numb right away, in fact I couldn't even lift my right leg...but my left side was still feeling some pain. So if I laid on my left side then the epidural would start to work on the left side. The problem was that the cord was around Gavin's neck and when I was on my left side his heartbeat would slow way down. So the nurses had to flip me onto my right side. Then the pain started to get really bad on my left side again. At about 2:00 p.m. I was at a 5 cm and about 20 minutes later I was at 8 cm. I knew I was going to be delivering soon and I definitely wanted the epidural to work. So the guy came back in with a strong dose that they use on C-section patients! I was COMPLETELY NUMB! Now I couldn't lift either of my legs! By 2:53 p.m. Gavin arrived!
When Emma was born she stopped breathing for a moment and the nurses had Matt turn our video camera off. In the panic process he dropped the camera and broke it! So the morning we were leaving for the hospital to have Gavin, Luke said "Don't drop the camera Dad!" Matt did GREAT! He took great pictures and was so wonderful to me in the delivery room. Gavin weighed in at 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was 20 inches long. Today we went to his 2 week appointment and he has already gained 1 lb. 1 oz.!!!!! He is 9 lbs. 3 oz.! Yes he is a great eater and sleeper! I am not used to having a baby that sleeps so much during the day and night! Luke and Emma cried all day and then slept ok at night! So I pleased that Gavin is allowing me to have an easy transition to having 3 children!
Emma on the other hand is the one giving me a run for my money! It seems she can't help herself with Gavin. She can't walk by him without grabbing him or giving him a squeeze! She is constantly wanting to help with EVERYTHING! When I am changing his diaper she is right there, and if I don't give her a responsibility in the process then she takes matters into her own hands and grabs a wipe and starts wiping his little bum! When I gave him his first bath she tried to take over and it got very hectic. Now when bath time comes she is in charge of his left foot. It is the cleanest part of his whole body! She uses about 5 handfuls of soap and lathers it really well! She loves to hold him. I just have to watch her because if she starts to grit her teeth you know she is going to pinch or shake or ruff him up, but if she is talking sweet then I know we are safe and she is very loving with him! :)
Luke can't get enough of Gavin. When I pick him up from school he says he can't wait to go home and see Gavin. He loves to hold him, and the other day I walked into the room where Gavin was laying and Luke was laying right beside him singing to him. (He was singing the Brite music song "When I grow up I want to be a mother and have a family, 1 little, 2 little 3 little babies of my own") When we first brought Gavin home I think Luke expected him to grow really fast so that he could play with him and start to teach him how to play sports, etc. So we would be downstairs and Luke would run upstairs to check on Gavin to "see if he had grown yet"! :) Luke heard me say that Gavin is so cute that I could just eat him up and so now that's what Luke always says "mom, Gavin is so cute and little, I just want to eat him".
Everyone has been so helpful...the week I was in the hospital there was a different friend from the ward that would take Luke and Emma for the day. Then when I got out of the hospital we had dinners brought to us from ward members for the first 5 nights! We were soooooo spoiled! Then my sister Kim, and her daughters Savannah, and Maggie came in town soon after that and it was wonderful to have them here! Kim was cooking and cleaning and refereeing Emma and Savannah. I'm sure she went home exhausted! I really appreciated everything! It was great timing because Emma was starting to get a little jealous of Gavin. She would cry for me to hold her and tell me to put him down. So Savannah coming was so great! You wouldn't know it at times with the way that Emma bullied Savannah! The cutest was when Savannah went with Emma to her dance class. They would go across the floor and immediately Emma would go and sit by Savannah and help her with things. Like at one point Savannah's little skirt was falling off her and Emma went and pulled it up for her! :) Kim also helped on Saturday because my ward had a shower for me. I took the baby for a few minutes so that everyone could see him and then Kim took him home and she and Matt watched all the kids. Then on Sunday she took the kids to church with her, poor Kim having to entertain 4 kids during sacrament meeting!!!! But she did GREAT! Luke keeps saying "Mom it's so sad that Savannah is gone".

Happy New Year!!!!
Things have been so crazy with all the holidays and getting ready for this baby to come! Then I realized they will be even busier when the baby comes and that I better send off an email quick...so here I am in my last hours. I am scheduled to be induced this morning at 8:00 a.m. So hopefully you will be getting a call from us shortly after that announcing the birth of our new baby boy! Kaelie I hope you don't mind sharing a birthday with a cousin! :)
Here are just a few funny and exciting things that have happened in the last couple of weeks/days:
• While trying to decide a name for the baby Luke piped up and said we should name him .com (dot com) :)
• While at the doctor the other day for my check up I had the kids with me and the Dr. came in and asked Luke and Emma how their Christmas was...then asked what they got, etc. Luke proceeded to tell him and then after said "one Christmas all I got was a rock!" I don't know where that came from...I asked him where he got that idea and he said he saw it once on a movie. I asked which movie and he replied, "Mr. Messy and the Christmas Rock". We had just read a book called Mr. Messy that day! His imagination and quick thinking cracks me up sometimes.
• Emma has decided that she does not like boys. So she was telling Luke she didn't like him, I told her she had to be nice and couldn't say that. She was serious and said she doesn't like boys and that the only one she likes is daddy!
• You wouldn't know that she likes daddy lately...Emma has been quite the pill lately. I think she is sensing change and realizing the arrival of the baby is soon. So she will not let Matt help her with ANYTHING! She won't let him help her get dressed, get out of bed, brush her teeth, or wipe her! She yells and says she only wants me! So I had a talk with her and told her that when the baby comes that daddy is going to need to help her more. She agreed and said "Ok I will let him WHEN the baby comes". We'll see!!!!!!
• We had a wonderful, relaxing Christmas...it was very low-key. In fact I don't think we ever changed out of our pajamas! It was great! Luke and Emma were so thrilled that Santa at their cookies and milk that they left for him, that the morning of they ran right past their Christmas presents to the empty plate of cookies and didn't even notice their new bikes or anything else!
Well it is late and I'm sure there are a million things I have missed...but I can't concentrate because we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow! (actually today!)
