Luke is getting too mature for things...

It was so funny because tonight I picked up Luke from his friend's house and then had to run into a store. Well he forgot his flip flops at his friend's house and didn't realize it until we got to the store. Well this isn't the first time this has happened, he always does and Emma always has about 10 pairs of shoes sitting in the car and I make him wear a girly pair of flip flops and usually it isn't a big deal! Well tonight he was freaking out about it. I finally had to manually get him out of the car with these cute little pink flip flops on....well he was dying! He was hiding behind me as we walked in. And I am not talking just walking behind me, he was BURYING his head in me and walking so close that people would not see his feet. Then it didn't help that we ran into my friend there who has a little girl his age. Immediately when we saw her and I said hi to her Luke disappeared! Usually he stays so close to me that it was weird to see him slip into another aisle. Well after I talked to her for a split second I peeked into the next aisle and he is curled up in a ball hiding the shoes! :) It was time to go and again he is buried into me and poor kid...we were in line right next to my friend! I kind of explained the situation and I could feel him cringing that I was sharing the secret of the pink shoes :) I don't think he'll forget his shoes again :)

Hilarious! It's so interesting when kids start to gain a social conscience. Embarrassment is a terrific motivator. (I'm a mean mom, because I usually don't even feel bad when those things happen. I figure it's 'just desserts'.)
